Makam Mahsuri

Makam Mahsuri, about 12 kilometer from Kuah is the legend and a major attraction not to be missed. It is a museum built to honor a beautiful lady Mahsuri who was unjustly accused of adultery. According to the legend, when executed, she bled white blood as a sign of her innocence.

There is a single white marble tomb in a beautifully landscaped garden. The museum also displays a large portrait of Mahsuri, some of her precious jewels and the weapon from which she was executed.

Mahsurilaid a curse at Langkawi that the island will stay barren for the next seven generations. Seven generations have passed and Langkawi has developed and flourished well as a tourist spot.
